CLCG subsidizes different kinds of linguistics conferences in Groningen ranging from workshops to international conferences. Most subsidies are granted for conferences
Written enquiries for conference subsidies can be submitted to the director of CLCG at least 6 months before the event takes place (preferably earlier). The enquiry has to include a description of the conference (which meets the requirements listed above) as well as a balanced budget. Grants between €500 and €2000 are possible.
N.B. (2008) in an attempt to avoid potential clashes in scheduling, which unfortunately have arisen, we will enforce the 6-month deadline more strenuously.
Colleagues accepting a conference subsidy are asked (i) to acknowledge the CLCG's support on announcements, websites and programs; (ii) to announce the event (a) on CLCG's events calendar as early as possible (but within two weeks of receiving a note confirming the subsidy) and (b)on the LOT list, the LINGUISTList and other appropriate fora; and (iii) to submit a brief report on the event later noting highlights if any, and the general attendance as well as attendance by CLCG members.
Unfortunately, SIR grants are as from 2012 no longer available.
CLCG provides grants for members of staff which give a talk at a scientific congres. Two travels per year can be subsidizes up to a maximum of in total €1360. Forms for travel grants can be found at the CLCG office and have to be submitted to the financial coordinator one month before the actual date of departure.
Funding for
summerschools, etc. should already be mentioned in the PhD
student's Opleidings- en Begeleidingsplan (OBP) and will
be deducted from the general travel budget.
For all travel grants, a form has to be filled in and signed by
the supervisor. Forms are available at the CLCG secretariat, room 15.238.
CLCG has no special fees for the attendance at Winter and Summer schools. For graduate students registered with LOT, the LOT winter school and LOT summer school are free. For graduate students registered with BCN, some instructional fees may be reimbursed. Diana Koopmans at BCN has more information, and she will naturally want to be certain that your supervisor approves.
